Choosing carpet padding can be a confusing experience. No one is going to see the pad so who cares. Wrong! The density of the pad will have a lot do with the longevity of your carpet. A firm pad with good memory will keep your carpet from showing wear paths. If pets accidents or spills are common then you may want to purchase a pad with a moisture barrier or an odor eater. An odor-eating pad has an enzyme in it that releases when it comes in contact with moisture. If odors are a worry then worry not. We display the correct pads with the carpet products that are shown online. So find your carpet and the pad will find you a Beckler’s Carpet. Also remember the carpet manufactures specify certain pads for there carpets, getting the wrong pad can make your warranty null and void.
Recomended Carpet Pads for different types of carpet
Berber Carpet - Almost always uses a 3/8" carpet pad. A thicker pad will cause peaking in the seams.
Trackless / Cut pile carpet - You can use almost any pad you like. A thicker pad is not always better. You want to take into consideration the amount of foot traffic. For heavy traffic you would want at least an 8lb density pad, but if you desire a soft feel, you could go with something like a 6lb carpet pad.
Commercial Carpet - Commercial carpet requires a thin dense pad. Depending the type of installation, you may need a pad that can be used double stick installation. (that means the pad gets glued to the floor and the carpet) |
