A history of growth Kraus Carpet Mills has experienced a history of growth since Michael Kraus founded the company in 1959. The Company started with fifteen employees and has grown to over 900 employees worldwide. Total daily capacity has surpassed 100,000 square yards. Kraus is consistently ranked in top 10 carpet mills in North America. In 1971, Kraus was among the first carpet mills to backward integrate into fiber production. Early extrusion of solution dyed carpet fibers helped Kraus to solidify its position as a commercial mill. Strudon olefin and Ultrel nylon have become synonymous with high quality yarns. Expansions and Acquisitions Expansion in early 90's was dominated by acquisitions. Forward integration into distribution strengthened the company's position in domestic market and continues to be direction of the future. The acquisition of other carpet mills allowed the company to reach greater economies of scale in centralized fiber production.
